Oscar de la Renta on the catwalk after his fall 2013 show |
Although John Galliano was involved in creating Oscar de la Renta's looks this season, which is suggested by the vintage Dior "bar" silhouette, the show was classic de la Renta. From the white-ribboned black party dress to the exaggerated toile and jacquard prints, de la Renta's show was full of drool-worthy clothes, shoes, and accessories.

See below for my top picks from the fall 2013 show. I'm in love with the silhouettes, luxurious materials, and big-statement jewelry--all of which come in beautiful, rich colours.
About
While on vacation in Paris, he was recruited by Christian Dior and Lanvin. He quickly became, in Vogue's words, a "guru of fashion," honing his knowledge of couture.
Despite his high-profile jobs at other houses, de la Renta says that he works "in the same way today as [he did] in the ateliers of Balenciaga and Lanvin over fifty years ago."
The clothes de la Renta designs are known for their ornamentation, detail, luxurious fabric, embroidery, and vibrant colour--the latter of which is a product of his Latin American roots.
